The 1st Brooklyn Open

A few months ago I heard a rumor that this event might be happening sometime in the fall and now, it's been announced. The first ever Brooklyn Open will be held on Monday, October 21st at Marine Park GC. It's an 18-hole medal play competition open to professionals and am's with a 10.0 or lower handicap. The official website has more details.

This is great news for the area in general. I'm not sure if an event like this ever existed. Marine Park is definitely a fitting course. I'm curious to see what the turnout's like. If I can shave a stroke and some change off my current handicap before the October 14th deadline for entry I'd be eligible, in which case I'd consider entering.

Anyone else interested?

  1. I think you should go for it. Looks like it would be a real heart-in-throat challenge. Marine Park looks wicked.

If I had a sub 10 handicap I would consider it, for the adventure.

Get some rounds in, see where your game can be in the next couple weeks and if it looks good and feels good I say sign up.

  2. Well I will put in my two cents worth. We get 10 oobers from around the country. We fly in Saturday evening. Legit shows us the town and then we all go to his luxury apartment and crash. We get up Sunday and play a practice round, we hit the spots in NYC that we missed Saturday and then head back to Legit's luxury apartment. Monday we all play in the B-Open and then head for the airport (does anyone REALLY think we are going to win this thing?).

Maybe to save money Legit can make us breakfast each morning and maybe prepare a box lunch to take along. I call the couch.

    1. There's some really good ideas, and some really bad ones in there Brian. It would be awesome for the oob to represent at this tournament, like the Cobra Kai or something. I won't count on it though, it's a lot to ask.
